Ted could arrest me anytime with those twinkling Irish eyes, AHH.... I think it started going wrong in the 90s when it upped to 2/3 half hour episodes, which ultimately turned it into another soap. Turned off circa 1995.CazUKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06436458106748112212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901944301852919470.post-22780569174974622992018-07-18T17:29:46.126+01:002018-07-18T17:29:46.126+01:00loved reg so funnyloved reg so funnyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11443139630077707067noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901944301852919470.post-56827982722938188942018-06-01T19:33:30.137+01:002018-06-01T19:33:30.137+01:00Really good post.

It's just a shame that by some stage in the early 00s it went into absurd soap opera mode.

For me, Galloway and Cryer were my favourite characters. I always preferred Galloway over Burnside, even though Burnside is of course an iconic and enjoyable character. And Viv of course, always loved Viv and her sass and sharp one liners. Loved Polly Page too, but it was sometimes hard to see her as Polly when I knew her better as Debs from Big Deal (also created by Geoff McQueen) I also loved how, in the early days, they didn't shy away from depicting the light and shade of characters and a good example of that is Tom Penny and the ep in which his wife comes to Cryer with the revelation that he beats her up at home. Such a storyline now would be the explosive end of a character, but back then tele had the balls to be realistic enough to admit such things occur and in real life these people don't exit the stage once the news is out. Also that despite it being a despicable thing to do, there is still some humanity and likeability in the character. He's multi-faceted.

The Beech storyline was the last time I was ever hooked on The Bill. As a result some of the others on here; Gabriel Kent, Samantha Nixon etc, I have no experience of.

Another top post!Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14569732807130090838noreply@blogger.com
