I have only the vaguest memory of watching one scene and being told it was too old for me and too scary: one teenager was talking to another in a bedroom at night, the one visiting wore a cape like batwings and seemed to be darker somehow, like they wore goth eyeliner or something, and then when the other one's parents or sibling wanted to come in the room, the one with the cape left via the window. That's how I recall it without having proper mental picture any more. It seemed to be based on a novel of the same name about teenagers who develope condition forcing them to hide from sunlight, so they only go out at night and their personalities change accordingly, the idea seemed to be a light version of the Salems' Lot child vampires concept. Anyone remember that?Jazathothhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08452392938446117222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901944301852919470.post-50116634209375036402019-03-21T06:09:16.671+00:002019-03-21T06:09:16.671+00:00There's a drama from the mid-80s that was show...There's a drama from the mid-80s that was shown on Children's ITV called 'Y.E.S' - all I can remember is that the theme tune ended with the line 'You gotta help yourself' - does anyone apart from me know what on earth I'm talking about?!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15044141802866360038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901944301852919470.post-88289094523095789612018-12-12T23:12:51.937+00:002018-12-12T23:12:51.937+00:00Corners used to be on when I came home from school...Corners used to be on when I came home from school too. Hideous looking, not to mention quite creepy. Also looks to have that "Trying to be a bit American in feel" vibe a lot of CBBC/CITV programmes started trying to go for in the early 1990s (y'know, when things started going a bit s__t... controversial!). I always felt there was quite a noticeable cultural change between children's TV output in the late '80s to the early '90s (again, and this kind of offering just sums that change up for me personally.

I recall 'The Little Green Man' well; I think I was probably just outside of it's intended age range by '85 but still enjoyed it for the rich vocal talents of Jon Pertwee. I also have a vague nagging feeling it may have come from a story or segment originally appearing in 'Rainbow' (certainly 'Cockleshell Bay' originated there), though memory may be playing tricks. I do recall a Rainbow story about the man in the moon coming down to earth one day, maybe that's what I'm confusing it with. I'll look into it sometime, if I can so be bothered...

'The Brollys', a bit like 'The Windfalls' featured in the original 43 lesser-knowns article. feels like it was produced just slightly too late and if a few years earlier might be well more remembered. I've browsed a couple of clips on YouTube and I like the concept, it does have a certain charm to it (though the animation style isn't really the best), if it had been late '70s or earlier '80s it might have been a minor classic.

'Galloping Galaxies!' is one of those progs that I can remember 'really liking' for a short time (only ten episodes were made) but after that only simply remembering the title and that I liked it. ...Oh, and that Kenneth Williams' voice was in it.

'Bric-a-Brac' is one of the "some remember it, some don't" young children's entries, from the lunch-time 'See-Saw' strand (again mixed in with the likes of Mr. Benn, Camberiwck Green, Bod and so on) and on that fond memories have long stuck with me from, mostly thanks to the wonderful Brian Cant. It's also reminded me of another See-Saw entry, 'Chockablock', which I recall also utilised several 'Playschool' regulars, and featured a mini-buggy vehicle that presenter(s) would enter the set on.

'Corners' used to be on when I came in from school, again I was probably out of the intended age range by that point but I would sometimes give it a look, mostly because I had a weird little crush on Sophie Aldred, even in her pre Ace-in-Doctor-Who days. Don't get me wrong, she wasn't enough to oust Daisy Duke from my heart but, very briefly, she had a certain place in my young heart!

'Your Mother Wouldn't Like It' is another series that I RECALL liking, but can't remember details (amazing the minute details I can recall from one programme, but very little from others). I seem to recall only ever catching the last ten minutes of episodes, presumably after whatever preferred offering finished on the other side. I recall it being a bit 'anarchic' and naughty for a children's TV show (and the sort of thing that Children's BBC of the era would NEVER have done). Another "most people don't remember it" CITV offering from a couple of years later, 'Round the Bend', which I truly adored, also continued in this vein of humour and beyond (and I think nearly got in trouble several times over it).
